Capture & Save Français

Privacy policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

This policy explains which data the Capture & Save app uses, why, where it is stored and how you stay in control.

1. Data controller

2. The principle: your data stays with you

Capture & Save works without an account. Your tree, your photos, their details (tagged people, dates, places) and your recordings are stored on your phone. We have no access to them.

An optional account is only used to back up your data to the cloud and to share it with the relatives you choose.

3. Data processed if you create an account

5. What we do not do

6. Processors

Account data is hosted by Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage) acting as a processor. Some data may be processed outside the European Union; Google covers these transfers with the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS) and access is restricted by security rules: everyone only reaches what is meant for them.

7. People you add

Your tree holds information about other people (your relatives). It stays on your phone unless you share it with linked relatives. Please only add information you are entitled to keep. Anyone appearing in a shared tree may write to us to ask for a correction or removal.

8. Retention

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you may access, correct and delete your data, object to processing or request portability. The app already lets you export everything (More → Pass on → Family archive) and delete your account yourself. For any other request: contact@captureandsave.app. You may also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority (CNIL).

10. Children

Account creation is not intended for children under 15. Parents may of course add their children to their tree and photos.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version; for significant changes, the app will let you know.
